January 1st, as I sat on a Coach being driven down towards the farm for a few days away (hubby having left earlier in the week while I was at work) I came up with a brilliant idea that instead of writing New Year’s Resolutions I would make a list of 101 great things to do in 2014 (like a weekend of motorsport at Queensland Raceway, left). As September came to a close, I reviewed the list, and now I’m thinking the idea wasn’t so brilliant. First up, I didn’t do the maths – 52 weeks, 101 things = two things per week. That’s a lot, in hindsight. Then I added some things that involved repeated effort eg practice photography skills every week. Another 50 or so things to fit in. And the daily exercise, another 350 things to fit in. So, out of the 101 things – two are no longer valid – twenty-three are complete and so with 1/4 of the year left, I still have ¾ of the items left on the list. And my day job’s hours have ramped up leaving me less time to work on it. Ugh. Of course there are plenty of things I’ve done that weren’t on the list – renovate existing house, move house, renovate new house, suffer bushfire damage on rural block and need to refence the entire 5km of fencing, lose existing feed and water and have to travel down weekly to feed and water the cattle. Maybe I should be happy with ¼ completion rate? So, the pressure is on. How close can I get to ticking off the 101 things in 2014?
